Coy Gullett, Director of Budget & Finance

Coy Gullett joined the Community & Technical College (CTC) Dean's Office in July 2012 as the director of budget & finance. In this brief Q & A he shares what brought him to UAA and what prompted his decision to work in higher education.

Q: Why did you want to work for a university?
A: I wanted to combine my military leadership, financial and educational experience into a role working for an organization that positively affects people and enhances the community through those individuals it has touched.

Q: What is your career background prior to joining CTC?
A: Air Force comptroller; UAA associate professor, Air Force ROTC; and U.S. Navy submariner

Q: What do you most enjoy about your profession?
A: The ability to help, lead and influence an organization to achieve its mission and goals.

Q: Are you originally from Alaska? If not, what brought you here?
A: The Air Force endorsed me to teach in the Air Force ROTC program at UAA from 2005 to 2008. My family and I, upon our arrival to Alaska, immediately fell in love with its people and raw beauty.

Q: What are your hobbies and interests?
A: Family, traveling, outdoor activities and finance
